Passion Play

Every year, St. Padre Pio Parish, presents A Musically Immersed Passion Play. This production is a beautiful way to prepare for the Easter Triduum. A traditional part of Easter, the Passion Play is steeped in history, faith and devotion and brings the Gospel readings to life. Passion plays are a dramatic source of inspiration for Catholics, a way to reflect on the events most central to our faith, and to understand them at a deeper level. The Passion Play also serves as a major fundraising event for the needs of the Parish.

2024 PRODUCTION

LEAD ME TO THE CROSS: A MUSICALLY IMMERSED PASSION PLAY

The story of Christ’s Passion is one of the most spectacular stories of all time, with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the witnessing of miracles, the last supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the arrest and trial of Jesus, the crucifixion, and finally the death and resurrection.

The 2023 Passion Play, The Power Of The Cross, was highly successful and was seen by over 800 people on the evening of Palm Sunday. This year’s Passion Play, Lead Me To The Cross was performed right in the church on March 22nd and 24th and was attended by over 1200 people, with over 90 volunteers participating to make the project a huge success.

As a fundraising initiative, we raised $70,000.00 through this year's Passion Play project, which all goes directly to the Parish. We thank all who dedicated their time, talents and energy in making this project come to life. It was truly a labour of love for all involved!
