St. Padre Pio Passion Play

Every year, St. Padre Pio Parish, presents A Musically Immersed Passion Play. This production is a beautiful way to prepare for the Easter Triduum. A traditional part of Easter, the Passion Play is steeped in history, faith and devotion and brings the Gospel readings to life. Passion plays are a dramatic source of inspiration for Catholics, a way to reflect on the events most central to our faith, and to understand them at a deeper level. The Passion Play also serves as a major fundraising event for the needs of the Parish. THIS IS JESUS: A MUSICALLY IMMERSED PASSION PLAY

Jesus was, is and will be! Both human and divine, Jesus remains the most important figure in history, whether you are a follower or not.

In this musically immersed Passion Play, This Is Jesus, the story of Christ unfolds with timeless moments from His life, that will touch the heart. From the perspective of all the witnesses of Jesus’ ministry and life and filtered for us through the four canonical Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, this musical production attempts to bring fourth the true reason for Jesus’ life mission - love. We witness the power of his healing, the depths of his love for the hurting and the cost of that love when he is nailed to the cross. This year’s Passion Play will leave us with the loving and forgiving message of redemption and the price that was paid.

Storytelling is at the forefront of this play, with flashback scenes, and private moments in the lives of Jesus and His followers. We will see the Gospels being written in real time, in front of us, as the witnesses to their work. We will see Jesus’ memories also come to life as He watches Himself as a younger child. Time is only a construct in this production, as people retell stories to the Gospel writers that will suddenly come to life, allowing the words to jump off the page. Scenery and projection will also emphasize the words coming to life. Music and lyrics will be used when words alone can no longer tell the story or portray the emotion. Dancers will be incorporated in moments of emotion and scenery shifts.

He was Immortal. He was the Son of God. A profound story, the greatest story ever told, the journey through Passion Play, ultimately leads you closer to our Jesus on the Cross - profoundly human and God.

Tickets are $25 each. There will be a 20 minute intermission. The Passion Play is not appropriate for children under the age of 7. Babes in arms are not allowed and all audience members must have a ticket.
